The house isn’t afraid of decoration, and that’s surprisingly refreshing. You enter through all that glass and immediately get color, exotic patterns, reflective surfaces and a staircase that behaves more like sculpture than circulation. The kitchen is serious too, with a Miele coffee machine, six-burner range, wine refrigeration and an outdoor lounge directly beyond it. Outside there’s room to barbecue, play ping pong or jump into the saltwater lap pool, while the theater and rooftop give the house two completely different places to end the evening. Five bedrooms and five-and-a-half baths mean Lucia isn’t just a design exercise; she can actually handle a group. But our favorite thing is that the house understands Venice. It’s polished without becoming buttoned-up, and there’s still enough eccentricity here to remind you exactly where you are.
