What was once an older structure has been thoughtfully transformed into a clean, modern two-bedroom, two-bath retreat with updated finishes throughout. The kitchen and bathrooms feel fresh and current, while the layout is simple and functional in a way that just works for a longer stay. Out back, you’ve got a private yard with an outdoor sofa setup that invites morning coffee or a glass of wine after a day out. And if you’re traveling with friends or family, the option to pair this with the neighboring Garden House creates a flexible, compound-style experience that’s hard to find this close to downtown.

What we love

This is all about location and ease. Being this close to downtown St. Helena is a major win. You can walk to restaurants, tasting rooms, and shops without thinking twice, which changes the entire rhythm of a stay. The proximity to Sunshine Market is another underrated perk. It’s one of the best markets in wine country, and having it essentially in your backyard makes everyday living effortless. The home itself strikes a nice balance between charm and modern comfort. The remodel was clearly done with intention. The kitchen is dialed for actual use, not just looks, and the bathrooms feel clean, updated, and well-finished. We also love the backyard. It’s not oversized, but it’s exactly what you want - private, usable, and set up for lounging. It gives the home that indoor-outdoor flow that’s so important in wine country. And finally, the flexibility here is huge. Renting just the Front House works great for a couple or small family, but pairing it with the Garden House turns this into a much more dynamic setup for groups.

Keep in mind

You are just off the busiest road in St. Helena, so there is some ambient road noise, especially during the day. It’s not overwhelming, but it’s there. The home also backs up to Sunshine Market, which means you’ll occasionally hear delivery activity. That said, we actually see this as more of a trade-off than a drawback. The convenience of having one of the best markets in the area steps away more than makes up for it in our book. Also worth noting, there’s no dedicated office, but the layout is flexible enough to easily add a desk if you need to work from home.

Work Mode

No formal office, but plenty of options. We’d set up a desk in one of the bedrooms or carve out a corner of the living space. With everything so close, this is more of a “work when you need to, then go enjoy town” kind of house.

Getting around

You’re in one of the most walkable pockets of St. Helena. Downtown is just a few minutes on foot, and Sunshine Market is essentially next door. For anything beyond town, a car makes sense, but for day-to-day living, you can comfortably leave it parked.
