Opening Snapshot

From the outside, this home reads like a humble, century-old farmhouse tucked along a quiet gravel lane. But the moment you step inside, the world opens up. The historic yellow exterior gives way to a warm, art-filled home that’s been renovated with extraordinary intention. Natural materials everywhere, reclaimed woods, patterned inlaid oak floors, concrete counters, skylights, and light dancing through vaulted ceilings create an atmosphere that’s both grounding and quietly luxurious. Every room feels thoughtful, personal, and deeply connected to the land just beyond the windows. But the true magic reveals itself as you step through the sliding glass doors and into the gardens. What begins as a charming old farmhouse suddenly becomes a private, eco-sanctuary: lush, edible, handcrafted, and designed by the landscape architects who own it. This is Sebastopol at its purest: a soulful retreat shaped by creativity, earth-first values, and a genuine love of place.

What we love

This home is a love letter to craft, ecology, and the beauty of living simply but artfully. Everywhere you look, there’s intention. The great room/dining/gourmet kitchen space is one of the most inviting we’ve seen: warm woods, custom inlay floors, hand-built cabinetry, and a style that blends modern sensibility with a whisper of craftsman charm. The adjoining TV room is the perfect cozy den for movie nights, and the small kitchen nook by the stairs doubles as an ideal remote-work perch. Bedrooms are smartly separated for privacy, each framed by garden views. The downstairs primary opens directly onto a dreamy outdoor deck with a giant upholstered daybed - a perfect spot to nap, read, or stargaze on warm West County nights. Upstairs, the third bedroom includes a queen bed plus a whimsical twin-bed loft nook that kids will absolutely claim as their hideout. And everywhere you turn, the owners’ fingerprints are present in the most heartfelt ways, from home-grown spices in the cabinet to their own pressed olive oil, a sweet little coffee bar, composting guides and bins, and an overall sense of stewardship that connects the gardens directly to the guest experience. And then… the gardens. Truly breathtaking. Edible pathways, fruiting trees, pollinator-friendly plantings, meandering trails, a fountain, fire pit, hot tub, and a tranquil pool compound. The owners, renowned eco-landscape designers, have created a fully immersive sanctuary where every step feels therapeutic. This isn’t just a yard; it’s an experience.

Keep in mind

The approach to the home is modest—just a small gravel lane in the outskirts of Sebastopol.  And the house sits closer to the road than you might expect. The moment you step inside, that concern evaporates, but the arrival sequence isn’t the grand reveal you get at some countryside estates. The home’s palette leans masculine: lots of warm woods, deep tones, natural textures, and a primarily beige-brown color spectrum. It’s beautiful and cohesive, but guests who love bright, airy, feminine interiors should know this leans more earthy and grounded. And while the home was originally built in the early 1900s, it’s been lovingly modernized over time. You can see its age from the exterior, but once inside, it’s clear how well cared for, renovated, and respected it has been. It’s full of character, and proudly so.

The brag

Joe B. lens:
I was blown away by how soulful this place feels. The craftsmanship, the reclaimed materials, the art, the gardens, everything reflects care and authenticity. It’s the kind of home you instantly settle into. And that outdoor daybed off the master bedroom? Unreal.
Joe R. lens:
This place had surprise after surprise, and the upstairs bedroom with that twin-bed loft nook completely won me over. I love spaces that feel lived-in, creative, and designed with heart. Plus, those gardens… I could wander them for hours.
Together we agree:
A one-of-a-kind Sebastopol sanctuary. Thoughtful, artful, eco-forward, and deeply relaxing.  This home embodies everything we love about West County living.

Getting around

You’re tucked into rural Sebastopol, just minutes from charming downtown, The Barlow’s artisan markets and eateries, and some of West County’s best wineries. Forestville, Graton, and Occidental are short drives away, and coastal adventures are within easy reach. It’s peaceful, private, and ideally located for exploring Sonoma’s laid-back, nature-driven side.

Joe-Tested,
Joe-Approved

This home is special—beautifully designed, lovingly maintained, and wrapped in gardens that feel almost sacred. It’s soulful, quiet, creative, and authentically Sebastopol. A perfect sanctuary for rest, inspiration, and slow, meaningful living.
