I like a mountain house that doesn't feel obligated to cover every surface in stone and timber. Mountain Village Stonegate Drive takes a much more restrained approach. Smooth hardwoods, a muted palette and cleaner contemporary lines give the house a minimalist chalet feel, while the aspens outside keep it connected to Telluride. Then the bedroom configuration gets interesting. Three bedrooms have king beds, which is already excellent. The fourth goes in the opposite direction: two queen bunks plus its own lounge and television. That's not an overflow bedroom. That's basically the younger generation's headquarters. I love that split. Adults get real king bedrooms, kids get a room they'll actually be excited about, and nobody has to pretend that putting four bunks in a hallway counts as thoughtful family design. Outside, the private cedar hot tub gives the quieter modern architecture exactly the kind of mountain amenity it needs.
