Seven bedrooms inside a Mountain Village residence is an interesting proposition because you get estate-sized sleeping capacity without giving up the amenities of a resort residence. Mountain Village San Joaquin Road sleeps a serious group, with eight bathrooms helping sixteen people live together without turning mornings into a negotiation. Then the building adds another layer: pool, gym, hot tub and other shared amenities. I particularly like the gym. On a month-long stay, I'm much more interested in a real place to keep a routine going than I am in a decorative fitness corner with one treadmill. The overall feel is polished mountain residence rather than private estate. For several families who want Mountain Village and resort amenities without managing a giant stand-alone house, I think that distinction can actually be the reason to choose it.

What we love

The scale-to-convenience ratio is excellent. Seven bedrooms normally pushes you into a very large private home. Here, you still get room for several families while the residence format gives you shared amenities and a more connected Mountain Village experience. The pool is particularly useful with children, and the gym makes a long stay easier for adults. Eight bathrooms also deserves more credit than it sounds like. With sixteen people, bathroom count is one of those details that can quietly determine whether a big house works.

Keep in mind

This is a resort/condo environment, not a totally private estate. The pool, gym and other building amenities are shared rather than exclusively yours. If total privacy is the goal, there are better houses in the portfolio. The exact ski route also isn't strong enough for us to describe the residence as direct ski-in/ski-out, so plan on using Mountain Village transportation where appropriate.

Work Mode

Fine for staying connected, but there's no dedicated work setup strong enough to make this one of our work-from-the-mountains standouts.

The brag

I like that seven bedrooms doesn't automatically mean renting a giant isolated house. This gives you serious capacity while keeping Mountain Village and the resort amenities in the experience.

The gym gets my vote. If I'm here for a month, I want something substantial enough that I can actually keep my routine rather than pretending two dumbbells count as a gym.

This is condo convenience at house scale, and for the right multi-family group that's a really compelling combination.

Getting around

A shuttle or vehicle will make parts of the stay easier. Mountain Village Core is the nearby hub for restaurants, shops and resort services, while the free gondola connects you to Telluride town. Skiing is at Telluride Ski Resort, but we wouldn't promise direct ski-in/ski-out access from the residence. Summer brings hiking, biking, golf and scenic gondola access throughout Mountain Village.
