This is not the house I'd rent for eight people. It's the house I'd rent for eighteen or twenty people who still want to like each other at the end of the month. Mountain Village Benchmark Drive is a new contemporary mountain compound with eight bedrooms, eight baths and, most importantly, a separate guest-house component. Then it adds the things that make a big house genuinely fun: a theater, gym and private hot tub. What I like is that the scale has a purpose. Instead of building one enormous structure where everyone is technically together but nobody has privacy, the compound arrangement lets different generations or families have some separation. The architecture is modern and appropriately substantial for the setting. But the real luxury isn't the size. It's having twenty people here without twenty people feeling like they're living on top of each other.
