Now we're in Telluride, and the first thing I notice is how different the mountains feel. Mountain Village Autumn Lane is a six-bedroom home that has been freshly remodeled, but what I like is that the renovation doesn't seem to have turned it into a generic luxury house. The design is polished and current, while the patios and mountain views keep reminding you exactly why you're here. There's a dedicated game room, which gives a larger family some separation, and the multiple patios make the house feel particularly useful outside winter. I'd be just as interested in sitting outside here in July as coming back from skiing in February. The other advantage is location. You're in Mountain Village, with skiing, the village core and Telluride's extraordinary free gondola system all part of the experience. It's a large family house, but it doesn't need to isolate you from the destination to give you space.
