What we love

The three decks let the relationship with the ocean change throughout the day. Breakfast outside feels different from an afternoon stretched out over the water, which feels different again once the sun starts dropping toward the horizon. Walls of glass keep that connection alive indoors, while an office and theater give the house enough infrastructure to work for a month rather than merely a beach weekend. That’s important. The ocean can dominate the experience without making the house one-dimensional. We also like that Escondido Beach is more private-feeling than Malibu’s most famous stretches of sand. The whole stay feels less like visiting the beach and more like temporarily acquiring one.

Keep in mind

True beachfront living has its own rhythm. PCH access, salt air, sand and marine exposure are part of daily life here. Guests wanting lawns, large inland grounds or a quiet neighborhood street should choose a different Malibu experience. This house is for people who consider the ocean’s proximity a feature worth adapting to.

Work Mode

There’s a dedicated office, but discipline will be required. The Pacific is directly outside and has no respect whatsoever for your calendar.

Getting around

You’re directly on Pacific Coast Highway with Escondido Beach at home, while Malibu Pier, Surfrider, Point Dume and the Country Mart become natural drives depending on the day. This is classic PCH living: the coast is your neighborhood, and the car connects the pieces.
