Imagine telling everyone you're moving to Malibu for a month to finish something. An album. A screenplay. A film edit. A business plan. Maybe you have absolutely no idea what you're finishing—you just know you need somewhere to think. Then the gates open at Lechusa. Two flat acres in the western Malibu hills. A modern farmhouse. Pool and spa. Wraparound Ipe deck. A detached 1,600-square-foot guest house that could become a recording studio, editing suite or writing room. And then, because apparently that wasn't enough, there's a professional-grade steel-and-glass greenhouse waiting for someone to decide what it wants to become. Lechusa doesn't feel like a Malibu beach house. It feels like a creative compound hidden in Malibu, which is much more interesting. You could come here to disappear. You could come here to make something. We'd probably try to do both.

What we love

The possibilities. Most houses tell you what every room is supposed to do. Lechusa leaves a few blanks. The main residence gives you the polished part: soaring ceilings, hardwood and porcelain floors, large sliding glass walls and an all-Viking kitchen. Outside, a wraparound Ipe deck looks across the pool, spa and landscaped grounds. Then things get interesting. The detached guest structure is roughly 1,600 square feet. Bedroom suite? Office? Recording studio? Editing room? Art space? You decide. And then there's the greenhouse. It's a legitimate steel-and-glass structure substantial enough to become a garden, art installation, studio or even a display space for cars. We love that because it makes the property feel less finished in the best possible way. This isn't just somewhere you consume luxury. It invites you to do something with it.

Keep in mind

This is western Malibu in the hills, not beachfront Malibu. If your fantasy requires walking out the back door directly onto the sand, choose one of our oceanfront houses. Lechusa is about acreage, privacy, creative space and the ability to disappear.

Work Mode

This may be one of the best work-from-LA properties in the collection. The detached guest structure gives you enough separation to create a legitimate studio or office rather than balancing a laptop on the dining table. If you're trying to finish something, this house gives you very few excuses.

Then there's a separate 1,600-square-foot building you could turn into a recording or writing space. This house makes you want to start a project.

Getting around

Lechusa sits in the hills of western Malibu, where privacy wins decisively over walkability. Beaches are a short drive down toward PCH, while heading inland gives you access to Westlake Village and the Conejo Valley. The location lets you move between Malibu's coast and the conveniences on the other side of the mountains while coming home to two remarkably quiet acres.

Lechusa isn't our classic Malibu story, and that's exactly why we like it. Two acres, a modern farmhouse, pool, detached creative studio and that incredible greenhouse make this less a vacation house than a private place to disappear and see what happens.
