Malibu Harvester makes us want to pretend we're training for something. Maybe a tennis tournament. Maybe an F1 season. Maybe just lunch. The house was designed and finished by Brittny Button and has appeared in Architectural Digest and Vogue Living; her husband happens to be Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button, which makes the home's mix of precision, performance and understated cool feel especially appropriate. Start the morning in the gym. Sauna. Steam. Cold plunge. Then move outside for pickleball or a swim in the Moroccan-tiled pool. Later, abandon all discipline and head downstairs to the speakeasy with its rock walls, brass bar and DJ booth. There's even a theater with a popcorn machine and an Airstream guest hideaway on the grounds. Malibu Harvester isn't our barefoot Malibu beach story. This is Malibu as a very beautiful private club.

What we love

The materials are fantastic. Reclaimed Italian limestone. Hand-finished plaster. Reclaimed oak. Taj Mahal stone. Hand-built cabinetry. Moroccan tile. There's a warmth here that keeps the wellness program from feeling clinical. And that wellness program is serious. Gym. Sauna. Steam. Cold plunge. Private pickleball court. Then the house completely changes personalities downstairs. Theater with popcorn machine. Wine cellar. Speakeasy. DJ booth. Brass bar set into rock walls. That's an excellent Saturday night. And then there's the Airstream. Because apparently someone decided the guest house should be fun too.

Keep in mind

Malibu Harvester is Malibu Park living rather than direct beachfront living. You're choosing land, views, sport and privacy over having the Pacific at the bottom of the stairs. For us, that's not a compromise. It's simply a different Malibu fantasy.

Work Mode

There's enough separation here to make a working month easy. Just don't schedule a call during the pickleball match because nobody is going to believe that background noise is "the office."

The brag

Joe B. lens:
I love the mix. Beautiful Mediterranean-influenced materials, serious wellness, pickleball—and then a speakeasy with a DJ booth. The Jenson Button connection is fun because the whole place does have this polished, high-performance feeling without becoming cold.

The bedroom suites have their own spa bathrooms and walk-in closets, and the ground-floor suite is useful for someone who doesn't want stairs. Add the Airstream and you've got some real flexibility for a group.

Getting around

You're in western Malibu above the coast, with Zuma Beach and Point Dume nearby by car and the rest of Malibu unfolding along PCH. The setting is residential and private rather than walkable, so the house itself provides much of the daily programming.
