The kitchen sets the tone earlier than you would expect. It is a proper cook's kitchen, with a gas range, deep counters, and a breakfast bar for two, and someone always ends up parked there with coffee while the rest of the house wakes up. Mornings are for the balconies, each upstairs bedroom has one, and the views run clear across the canyon and mountains. As the day warms the glass wall opens and the living room simply becomes part of the patio. The water holds the afternoon, the loungers fill with people reading and dozing, and the bar cart handles the hour before dinner. Then night falls and the outdoor space comes into its own, the fire pit lit, the hammock swinging, the city on below. The primary suite deserves its own mention: a bed facing a private balcony, a gas fireplace, and a soaking tub set right in front of it and a window, so a bath comes with a fire and a view both. We watched the fourth bedroom's little patio and hammock get more use than its indoor life.
