Step through the gate and the story starts to change. A beautifully landscaped courtyard introduces a sleek, contemporary home, and you begin to realize there is much more hiding back here than the street suggested. Then you reach the other side of the house. Suddenly Los Angeles is spread out below you, the pool and deck seem to hang above the city, and the whole reason for living in the Hollywood Hills becomes perfectly clear. This is the LA fantasy turned into a house: privacy from the street, beautifully polished interiors, and a backyard made for people who aren't quite ready for the night to end. If you have ever wondered what it might feel like to live like an A-list Angeleno for a month, Sunset Plaza Heights gives you a pretty convincing answer.

What we love

The reveal is fantastic. We love homes that don't tell you everything at the front door, and Sunset Plaza Heights keeps getting better as you move through it. The interiors are unapologetically modern, with Italian cabinetry, stone and glass surfaces, designer fireplaces, and a Miele-equipped kitchen, but the house never forgets what the real attraction is: everything happening beyond the glass. Pocket doors erase the wall between the living spaces and the pool, spa, firepit, barbecue area, and enormous city views. This is one house where entertaining feels almost mandatory. Invite friends over, open everything up, and let Los Angeles provide the backdrop. Then retreat downstairs to a primary suite that feels like its own apartment. There is a fireplace, sitting area, private deck, custom closet, steam shower, and even a wine cooler within reach. We also like the main-floor guest suite, with its own walk-in closet and shower. In a vertical hillside home, having one really good bedroom that requires no stairs is a thoughtful advantage.

Keep in mind

This is a classic reverse hillside floor plan: the main living spaces are at entry level to capture the views, while the primary suite and two guest bedrooms sit below. Stairs therefore become part of daily life, although the main-floor guest suite is an excellent choice for grandparents or anyone who prefers to avoid them. One of the downstairs queen bedrooms does not have an ensuite bathroom. There is a full bathroom directly outside its door, so it isn't much of a hardship, but we would give that room to the most easygoing member of the group. Getting here is also part of the Hollywood Hills experience. The neighborhood streets are narrow and winding, and some drivers will be more comfortable with them than others. The payoff, of course, is precisely why you climbed the hill in the first place.

Work Mode

There is no dedicated office, so think of Sunset Plaza Heights as more of a laptop house. The dining area works for casual calls, while the sitting area in the primary suite provides more privacy. We would confirm connectivity before planning a month packed with Zoom meetings..

Getting around

You're just above the Sunset Strip, with Sunset Plaza, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, restaurants, nightlife, and shopping all close by. The winding hillside streets add a few minutes to almost every trip, but this is a particularly good location for getting the Hollywood Hills lifestyle without feeling removed from the city below.

Host one proper cocktail party before the month is over. Invite people for an hour before sunset, open the house to the deck, and don't over-plan anything. If your guests spend more time staring at Los Angeles than talking to each other, you've done it right.
