Somewhere along the private driveway into Somera, Bel Air starts to disappear. Maybe it's the tropical landscaping. Maybe it's the living wall surrounding the entrance. Maybe it's the enormous glass doors and warm wood. But by the time you see the 80-foot zero-edge infinity pool hanging over the hillside, Los Angeles feels several time zones away. Designer and developer Ramtin Ray Nosrati built the 2022 estate as an exercise in organic modernism, with more than 10,000 square feet spread across an acre in Bel Air. Yet the scale isn't what sticks with us. It's the atmosphere. Somera feels like someone picked up a Balinese resort, gave it a spectacular LA view and quietly dropped it into the hills. Living wall, tropical greenery, water, wood, stone, fire and enormous open-air spaces—it is completely over the top, and somehow still serene.

What we love

The illusion. You know you're in Bel Air, but the house keeps trying to convince you otherwise. The landscaping is lush. The arrival feels tropical. Walls of Fleetwood glass disappear. The indoor spaces open toward the pool and horizon. And that pool is extraordinary—roughly 80 feet of zero-edge water suspended above the view. Then you start discovering just how much is hidden inside. A serious chef's kitchen with a prep kitchen and commercial-grade walk-in refrigerator. A travertine bar. Wine room and tasting area. Theater. Gym. Office. And a rooftop lounge with another bar, television, firepit, barbecue and putting green. This is where the resort comparison becomes legitimate rather than marketing language. You could spend weeks discovering different places to sit.

Keep in mind

Somera is unapologetically big and theatrical. Travelers wanting understated residential living have quieter options in the collection. It's also deep in residential Bel Air. Almost everything outside the gates requires a car.

Work Mode

There's a proper office, but this may be one of those houses where working from home requires unreasonable discipline. Our advice: get it done early.

Getting around

Somera sits deep in Bel Air, where privacy wins over walkability. Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Westwood, the Getty and the rest of the Westside are accessible by car, but once you come through the gates, the entire point is that the city feels much farther away than it really is.

Somera is one of the collection's true showstoppers. Plenty of LA homes call themselves resorts. Between the tropical arrival, 80-foot infinity pool, rooftop, wine room, theater and extraordinary indoor-outdoor living, this one actually earns the comparison.
