The house makes its case in daylight. Sun pours down the two-story glass wall and lands on the living room's raised platform, and the white oak floors carry the light room to room. Mornings settle in the kitchen, where a built-in breakfast table and a broad island mean the cook and the coffee crowd share one space without crowding. The olive tree at the center of it all, older than anyone who will ever stay here, anchors the courtyard and turns the whole ground floor calm. Upstairs belongs to the primary suite, which is close to a home of its own: a private deck over the water, a lounge fireplace, a dry bar, and a bath with a soaking tub and dual sinks. But the pull, morning to night, is the infinity pool. It holds the back of the lot, the fire pit takes over after dark, and dinner drifts outside more nights than not. We caught the grand staircase turning from showpiece into the route to the water everyone took ten times a day.
