Light runs the mornings here. It comes over the canyon early, through the full-height glass, and makes the first coffee feel cinematic even when you are in yesterday's shirt. The kitchen takes breakfast seriously, with marble counters, mahogany cabinets, twin dishwashers for the aftermath, and a wine cooler standing by for later. Days settle onto the pool deck, where the water's edge disappears against the hillside and the ocean sits on the horizon like a rumor that keeps being confirmed. We found ourselves thinking the house has two personalities, monastery by day and amphitheater by night. Golden hour opens the second act. The covered terrace up top becomes the true dining room: grill working, heaters glowing overhead, the steam room warming up for afterward while the canyon lights come on in ones and twos. Later the freestanding fireplace glows in the middle of the room like a lantern, and the spa keeps the last two people awake long past a reasonable hour. We could picture a month in which the indoor dining table serves mostly as a staging area for meals that actually happen outside.
