The primary suite might have the best seat in the house. A floating concrete staircase takes you upstairs, where the bedroom opens to its own viewing deck with roughly 270 degrees of city and ocean around you. There are two fireplaces, a substantial bathroom and enough glass that the view becomes part of the room. But we also like that Fareholm Drive isn't cold. That's the danger with architecture this precise. Too much glass, concrete and limestone and suddenly you're living in a very expensive gallery. Here, wood floors and multiple fireplaces warm things up. The kitchen has Wolf, Sub-Zero and Miele appliances, but we're more interested in the breakfast nook sitting against the view. That's where we imagine the house at its best: everyone still half awake, Los Angeles spread out below, deciding what kind of day this is going to be. Then open the glass and head outside. Pool. Spa. Decks. Outdoor dining. The architecture stops being something you look at and becomes something you live through.
