It has the Miele and Thermador setup and a center island with bar seating, so cooking for a few people is a pleasure instead of a chore, and someone always ends up parked at the island while dinner comes together. From there the whole entry floor opens to the terrace, which is where a long stay really happens: coffee in the morning, a glass of wine as the canyon fades, dinner outside when the weather cooperates, which in these hills is often. Upstairs, the three bedrooms each have their own bathroom, so nobody negotiates a schedule. The primary is the one to claim, with a walk-in closet and a freestanding tub. The second bedroom quietly doubles as the workspace, with a desk, a chair, and its own balcony, which matters when someone in the group is logging real hours. We found ourselves thinking this is the rare hillside home where the best room is not actually inside. The gated entry and quiet street let the canyon do most of the talking.
