Gym for Joe. Pool table for the kids. Office for whoever made the mistake of telling everyone they'd still be available on vacation. Edwards Daybreak Ridge Road is a newly remodeled four-bedroom home in gated Bachelor Gulch that gets the extended-stay equation unusually right. There's a private hot tub and plenty of mountain-house comfort, but I like the secondary spaces even more. The gym means you can maintain an actual routine. The office gives work somewhere to go besides the dining table. And the pool-table hangout gives kids or teenagers somewhere to disappear. That's a smart combination for thirteen people. You're also in a quieter residential part of Bachelor Gulch rather than in the middle of Beaver Creek Village. So this isn't the house I'd choose because I wanted to walk out for coffee. I'd choose it because I wanted space, privacy and a house we could actually live in for a month.

What we love

The gym-office-game-room combination is excellent. Those are three completely different needs, and on a long family stay all three become useful. I especially like having a real gym. A treadmill tucked in the corner of a bedroom doesn't count. The private hot tub gives you the expected apres-ski payoff, and six bathrooms for four bedrooms should make mornings dramatically easier.

Keep in mind

The sleeping capacity of thirteen is more naturally suited to families than four equivalent adult couples. You're also in residential Bachelor Gulch, so shuttle or vehicle use is part of the stay rather than being able to walk to a village full of restaurants.

Work Mode

Excellent. There's a dedicated office, making this one of the stronger work-from-the-mountains homes in the portfolio.

Getting around

Bachelor Gulch and Beaver Creek Resort are the ski focus. A vehicle or resort shuttle will generally make skiing, dining and shopping easier, with Beaver Creek Village reached through resort transportation. Summer brings hiking, mountain scenery and Beaver Creek's outdoor activities, while the residential setting remains noticeably quieter than the village.
