Oak Pass Manor may be one of the best examples in this collection of modern architecture learning how to relax. Architect Noah Walker designed the 2024 house with all the drama you’d expect—glass pivot entry, two-story living room, floating staircase and enormous openings—but then surrounded those gestures with hardwood ceilings, oak cabinetry, brick-clad columns, olive trees and a ten-foot living wall. The result feels far more organic than the usual Beverly Hills white box. Then 50 feet of pocketing glass disappear and the house opens toward a zero-edge pool, spa, outdoor kitchen and firepit. Oak Pass is modern architecture that remembers California existed before polished concrete did. That balance between architecture and landscape is what makes the house special to us.
