The retro vibe is what separates this house from so many Beverly Hills rentals. There’s a warmth and confidence to it that feels connected to another era of Los Angeles, when homes were glamorous without necessarily being enormous white boxes. Knowing Jill St. John once called it home adds a little Hollywood history without requiring the house to become a museum piece. She was a major presence in 1960s Hollywood and later became the first American Bond girl as Tiffany Case in Diamonds Are Forever. We also love how the greenery changes the experience of the house. Instead of all that glass exposing you to a giant city panorama, the windows frame trees and landscape, creating a surprisingly private, almost cocooned atmosphere. Add the pool and outdoor shower and you get a house that feels glamorous but relaxed—the kind of place where we’d happily spend an afternoon doing absolutely nothing.
