Avon Thomas Place Sunstone is a three-bedroom Beaver Creek residence that gets something right that a lot of ski homes don't: it works just as well for adults as it does for a family. Two bedrooms are set up around king beds, while the third has two queens. Add three-and-a-half baths, a contemporary kitchen, stone fireplace and room for eight, and nobody has to draw the short straw on where they're sleeping. You're also in the heart of Beaver Creek, with ski access, village life and resort transportation close at hand. After skiing, I'd probably end up on the wraparound balcony with the grill going rather than immediately heading back out. It's polished without feeling overdone, practical without being boring, and unusually easy to imagine living in for a month.
