This doesn't feel like the stereotypical Beaver Creek house. And that's why I like it. Avon Aspen Lane is a five-bedroom home for twelve with a more urban, contemporary personality than the heavy timber-and-stone mountain look you see everywhere in Colorado. You still know you're in the mountains. You just don't feel as though somebody decorated the house from a lodge catalog. The other thing I like is the balance between having a real private home and staying reasonably close to Beaver Creek Village. There are multiple decks, access to hiking and enough living space for a proper family group. So you get the privacy and breathing room of a house without disappearing onto a remote road every time somebody wants dinner or wants to head toward the village. For a month, that's a good balance. And in summer, I might like it even more.
