Do You Have What It Takes to Be a Joe?

There’s a certain type of person we’ve noticed gravitating toward The Joes. Being a Joe has very little to do with wealth or status. It’s not about flashy luxury or perfectly curated travel. It’s about mindset - curiosity, openness, and the willingness to embrace a different rhythm of life, even temporarily. The people drawn to this lifestyle tend to belong to what we’ve started calling the “Anywhere Class,” people who understand that life doesn’t have to be lived in just one place, in just one way, on one rigid timeline. They’re willing to try things. To shake up their routine. To say yes before every detail is perfectly figured out. And honestly? Not everyone is wired that way, and that’s okay.
Joe and I see it all the time. Someone dreams about spending a season in Wine Country, living in the mountains, trying small-town life, or working remotely from somewhere beautiful and inspiring. They love the idea of it… until it becomes real. Then the questions start. What if I don’t like it? What if it’s too quiet? What if I miss my normal routine? What if it’s not perfect? But that’s the thing about being a Joe: you don’t need certainty to try something new. You just need curiosity. The beauty of The Joes is that the stakes are actually incredibly low. We’re not asking you to buy a second home, permanently relocate your family, or commit to a new identity forever. We’re asking: what if you tried it for 30 nights? Or 3 months? What if you gave yourself permission to experiment with a different version of life?
A Joe takes the leap. Some of the best experiences in life begin slightly outside your comfort zone. If you don’t know whether you’ll love country living, maybe that’s exactly why you should try it. If you’ve never spent a month walking to the same local coffee shop every morning, cooking with produce from a nearby farmers market, or slowing down long enough to actually feel connected to a place, maybe that’s the experience you’ve been missing. The Anywhere Class understands something most people forget: you can always go home. But you can’t experience the life you never gave yourself permission to try.
That mindset isn’t for everyone. Some people want predictability, routine, and guarantees before making a move. We completely understand that. But The Joes was built for people who feel that pull toward something more expansive. People who believe life can still surprise them. People who understand that freedom requires a little courage. We’re creating opportunities for people to live differently — not forever, not with enormous risk, but long enough to discover something new about a place, and maybe even about themselves.
Have you ever taken a leap into the unknown and been glad you did? Tell us about it in the comments. We have a feeling there are more Joes out there than people realize.
