Agriturismo Retreat
Sonoma, CA
Opening Snapshot
At first glance, this place doesn’t shout “wine country showpiece.” It’s a modest little ranch house tucked at the end of a cul-de-sac. But step inside — and then outside — and the transformation is jaw-dropping. Interiors are intentional, artful, and beautifully designed, but it’s the grounds that steal the show: sprawling gardens, fire pits, patios, even a bridge over a creek leading to tucked-away gathering spaces. It’s a home that surprises at every turn and reminds you that wine country living is as much about what’s outside as in.

What we love
The kitchen is clearly designed by chefs — thoughtful, functional, and gorgeous. The bedrooms and bathrooms are cozy but intentional, each space styled with personality and care. And then you open the back doors and it’s like stepping into a five-star resort. The gardens are some of the prettiest we’ve seen anywhere, meticulously kept and bursting with life. There’s a pool that feels straight out of a magazine shoot, a yoga deck shaded by a centuries-old cork tree, a bocce court, fire pits, and endless outdoor dining and lounging options. Chickens provide fresh eggs daily, and seasonal produce from the gardens finds its way onto the table. This is the essence of wine country living — outdoors, farm-to-table, and just a little bit bohemian.
The Brag
Joe B. lens:
The outdoor spaces here floored me. It’s the kind of place where you throw a casual dinner for four inside, but a 20-person garden party outside feels effortless. The pool, the creek, the gardens — it all works together.
Joe R. lens:
The house feels perfect for working remotely — quiet, intentional, and inspiring. And when the laptop closes, you’re instantly in one of the most beautiful gardens I’ve ever seen, with fire pits and yoga decks calling your name.
Together we agree:
This is a quintessential wine-country lifestyle home — quirky, soulful, and unforgettable.
Getting Around
You’re in a quiet neighborhood setting, with Fryer Creek running through the property. The Sonoma Plaza is just a short drive for cafés, shopping, and wine tasting, while nearby Glen Ellen and Kenwood offer farmers markets, parks, and small-town charm.
