Opening Snapshot

After some of the enormous Telluride houses we've toured, I find this one refreshing. Telluride Sunny Ridge Place Edge is just two bedrooms and two baths, and that's exactly the point. You get the mountain-modern design, elevated views and See Forever setting without renting six bedrooms you don't need. This feels like a Telluride home for a couple who wants a little extra room, two couples traveling together, or a small family that plans to spend its days skiing and exploring rather than managing a giant house. The interiors are contemporary and comfortable, but the mountains are really what give the residence its personality. For a month, I could absolutely see the appeal. You have enough room to settle in, Mountain Village is nearby, and the house feels more like your own mountain place than a resort you happen to be staying in.

What we love

I like the intimacy of it. Luxury doesn't always have to mean more bedrooms, more rooms and more things to maintain. Sometimes it's having exactly the amount of house you need in a spectacular place. The elevated mountain views keep the residence connected to Telluride, while the contemporary design gives it a cleaner feel than some of the more traditional stone-and-timber homes. For two couples, the two-bedroom setup is straightforward. For a couple, the second bedroom gives you enough flexibility for guests or a little separation during a long stay.

Keep in mind

This is intentionally a small-group property. If you're bringing several families, keep moving. The See Forever setting is also more residential than pedestrian. Mountain Village is nearby, but don't expect to walk out the door directly into restaurants or onto a ski run.

Work Mode

Perfectly workable for occasional remote work, although there's no dedicated office significant enough to make workability part of the reason we'd book it.

The brag

I actually like that it's small. Give me a great view, good contemporary design and exactly the amount of house we need. Bigger isn't automatically better.

This is the antidote to the 18-person ski house. Two couples can come here and actually feel like the house was designed for them.

A right-sized mountain home can feel every bit as luxurious as a giant one when the setting is this good.

Getting around

Plan on using a vehicle or shuttle for at least part of the stay. Mountain Village Core is nearby for restaurants, shops and resort services, and the free gondola connects Mountain Village with Telluride town. We wouldn't describe the residence as direct ski-in/ski-out. Telluride Ski Resort is your mountain. In warmer months, hiking, mountain biking, golf and the gondola open up an entirely different side of Telluride.
