If someone blindfolded us, drove us through the gates and dropped us at Coldwater Canyon, we're not sure Los Angeles would make our first five guesses. The driveway winds deep into more than four acres filled with over a thousand mature oak trees. There are hiking trails, roaming deer, enormous lawns, a farmhouse-style main residence and a guest house. The property is so big there are golf carts to get around it. This feels less like Studio City and more like someone relocated a private Wine Country estate to the middle of LA. And that's exactly why we love it. After dozens of glass boxes clinging to hillsides, Coldwater Canyongives you white oak floors, vaulted ceilings, greenery, land and room to breathe. Then it quietly reminds you that you're still in Los Angeles by adding a pool and spa, pickleball, basketball, wine cellar and an outdoor kitchen. Country house, LA rules.

What we love

The oaks. More than a thousand of them. That's not landscaping. That's a setting. The property spreads across roughly 4.5 acres, and the long private drive creates a genuine sense of arrival. There are trails through the grounds, wildlife and enough distance between spaces that golf carts actually make sense. Then there's the house. Eight bedrooms. Vaulted ceilings. En-suite bathrooms and walk-in closets. A chef's kitchen with Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances, two dishwashers and a huge kitchen island. White oak floors run throughout. Outside, the amenity list becomes wonderfully ridiculous: pool and spa with waterfall and fire feature, outdoor kitchen, firepit dining, pickleball court with basketball hoop, guest house and enough parking that we're not sure anyone has enough friends to test its limits. This isn't merely a house. It's a compound.

Keep in mind

Coldwater Canyon is enormous, and that's the point. The private drive alone tells you this isn't the house where you stroll down the block for coffee. You are choosing land, privacy and a country-estate atmosphere. And with grounds this large, expect to actually use those golf carts.

Work Mode

There is so much space here that working privately should be easy. Between eight bedrooms, the guest house and multiple living areas, you can essentially establish your own office wing without anyone noticing you've gone missing.

The brag

This might be one of my favorite surprises in the portfolio. It feels like Wine Country in the middle of Los Angeles. A thousand oak trees, farmhouse architecture, hiking trails, wildlife, golf carts—and then you're minutes from Studio City. After looking at so many modern boxes, I love how completely different this feels.

Eight bedrooms with en-suite baths and walk-in closets gets my attention immediately. Then there's a guest house, huge primary, pickleball, basketball, pool, outdoor kitchen and all that land. For a big family or multigenerational stay, this is a serious compound.

Coldwater Canyon doesn't feel like an LA house. That's exactly what makes it such a great LA house.

Getting around

You're tucked into Coldwater Canyon between Studio City and Beverly Hills, which gives this secluded property an unusually useful location. Ventura Boulevard and Studio City are close for everyday restaurants and shopping, while Beverly Hills and the Westside are accessible in the other direction. Universal Studios is also nearby enough to make an easy family outing.
