Opening Snapshot

This is the Mountain Village version of living downtown. Walk downstairs and the village is already there: restaurants, shops, plazas, the gondola and ski-resort life all within the same immediate environment. Mountain Village Boulevard Plaza is a four-bedroom residence designed for a family group, with two adult-oriented king rooms and additional sleeping spaces that make sense for kids. There's a hot tub and gym in the amenity mix, plus balcony views that keep the mountains present even though you're staying right in the middle of the village. That's the appeal for me. Some trips I want total privacy. Other trips I want to walk downstairs, see what's happening and decide what we're doing next. For a month in Mountain Village, that freedom can be every bit as valuable as having a giant private house farther up the mountain.

What we love

The location downstairs is the biggest amenity. Restaurants and shops don't require a transportation plan. The gondola makes Telluride town accessible without getting into a car. Skiing is nearby. The village plazas give you somewhere to wander. I also like the bedroom strategy. Two king rooms work for the adults, while the other sleeping spaces make sense for children. That's a much better family configuration than pretending every bedroom has to serve the same purpose. The gym is another meaningful plus on an extended stay. I appreciate having somewhere legitimate to maintain a routine rather than abandoning it for a month.

Keep in mind

You're in the Mountain Village Core, which means activity. During busy periods, expect more people and more energy around the building than you'd experience in a private residential setting. For me, that's the tradeoff for being able to walk downstairs and have restaurants, shops, the gondola and the village right there. If you're looking for total mountain seclusion, I'd choose something farther out. If you like being in the middle of things, this location is hard to beat.

Work Mode

Perfectly workable for staying connected, although the residence's real advantage is how easy it is for everyone else to leave and enjoy the village while someone works.

Getting around

This is one of the easiest car-light stays in Mountain Village. Restaurants, shops, plazas and resort services are within practical walking distance, nearby lifts provide access to Telluride Ski Resort, and the free gondola connects you to Telluride town. Summer is equally convenient for hiking, mountain biking, village events and gondola rides, with golf nearby as well.
