Reef Mall is the house that makes us want to buy bicycles for the month. Set in Marina del Rey’s Silver Strand, this Mediterranean home gives you something most of the big LA estates can’t: a real coastal neighborhood where water, beach paths and Venice can become part of the everyday routine. The house itself feels appropriately relaxed for that setting. Terracotta balcony. Fireplaces. Gardens. Beamed ceilings. A rooftop. Nothing about it is trying to compete with the Pacific by becoming an architectural stunt. Instead, it gives a group of up to twelve somewhere comfortable to land between bike rides, beach days and evenings around the Marina. Reef Mall isn’t about escaping Los Angeles behind a gate. It’s about letting coastal Los Angeles become part of your life.

What we love

The Mediterranean character feels right here. Terracotta, fireplaces and pitched beamed ceilings give the house warmth, while balconies and the rooftop keep pulling you outside. We also like the bedroom mix for families. Three kings give the adults real options, while bunk configurations make the house naturally useful for children or a multigenerational group. The layout spreads bedrooms across several levels, which creates some useful separation. But the real amenity remains the neighborhood. A month here can include beach walks, bike rides, marina mornings and Venice afternoons without turning each outing into an expedition.

Keep in mind

Reef Mall is a three-level coastal home rather than a flat estate, and not every bedroom has a private bath. The Silver Strand setting is also more neighborhood-oriented than secluded. Travelers wanting acres, a huge private pool compound or total isolation should look elsewhere.

Work Mode

The multi-level layout gives a group some separation for calls and work. More importantly, everyone else has an entire coastal neighborhood to disappear into while you’re finishing something.

Getting around

The Silver Strand puts Marina del Rey, Venice Beach, the canals and the coastal bike path into your daily orbit. Abbot Kinney and Venice restaurants are nearby, while Santa Monica extends the coastal experience north. This is one of the portfolio’s better areas for leaving the car behind when the day’s plans stay local.
