Winding Way presents the best kind of Malibu problem: why leave? The beach and Malibu Country Mart are nearby, but the gated hillside compound has ocean views, a pool, tennis, theater, gym, outdoor kitchen and fruit orchards. The orchard may be our favorite part because it softens everything else. Without it, this could easily feel like another giant private resort. Add fruit trees and suddenly there’s something personal and distinctly California about wandering outside in the morning and picking something growing on the property. The Pacific is still out there reminding you where you are, but Winding Way doesn’t rely on the ocean to entertain you. It gives Malibu some competition.
