There is room to cook without shooing everyone else away, and the breakfast nook gives the non-cooks somewhere to sit with coffee and keep you company. Double ovens, a warming drawer, an integrated coffee system, and serious Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances make this a kitchen you can actually live with for a month, not just admire when you arrive. Then there is the backyard. Open the floor-to-ceiling glass doors and the family room spills onto a covered patio, with the white-pebble pool and spa just beyond. This is where we would spend the lazy part of the afternoon: kids in the pool, someone reading in the shade, a few wine glasses appearing around five, and no particular reason to go anywhere. As sunset approaches, turn on some music, order dinner, and let everyone find their way back outside. And then there is the theater. Not a TV room pretending to be one, but a proper soundproof theater with quilted leather recliners, surround sound, and a 4K projector. We love amenities that become better on a long stay, and this is one of them. Movie night might feel like an event the first week. By week three, someone is barefoot in the front row with a bowl of popcorn watching a movie they have seen ten times. That is when you know the house has become home.
