We are suckers for a tile roof, especially when it is used this well. Maravilla takes the familiar language of California Spanish architecture and cleans it up without stripping away its character. The courtyard arrival is particularly good. Rather than walking directly into another giant open room, you get a moment of transition before the house reveals the skyline. Inside, the floor plan becomes much more contemporary. Fleetwood pocket doors disappear into the walls, turning the main level into one continuous indoor-outdoor living space with Los Angeles filling the horizon. We like that contrast: traditional architectural cues wrapped around a house that lives very much in the present. Then the house changes character as you descend. Bedrooms occupy the middle level, while the lowest floor becomes the fun zone, with a large flex space opening directly to the infinity pool and spa. Make it a screening room, gym, yoga studio, or secondary lounge. We also appreciate the quieter spaces. A dedicated study with a marble fireplace gives work a proper home, while the primary suite has its own private patio when you need a little distance from everyone else.
