Belden View is refreshingly uninterested in being a Hollywood Hills mega-mansion. Built in 1965 and tucked into Beachwood Canyon directly below the Hollywood Sign, it has three bedrooms, two baths and the kind of scale that makes you settle in quickly rather than spend the first week figuring out where everything is. The house climbs toward its payoff: a huge Brazilian-wood rooftop deck where canyon hills surround you, city lights appear after dark and a perfectly positioned hot tub turns the roof into your own little club in the sky. We can picture this house with four good friends better than we can picture it full of twenty people. Dinner outside, music on, everyone in the hot tub later, the Hollywood Sign somewhere over your shoulder. Belden View makes the Hollywood Hills feel personal rather than performative.

What we love

The 1965 bones give the house something many newer hillside rentals don't have: restraint. Stone and wood floors, a sunken living room, modern fireplace and French doors create warmth without trying too hard, while the kitchen mixes dark quartz, custom cabinetry and a breakfast bar into something that feels designed to be used. Then a series of decks and terraces gradually pulls you outside. The rooftop is what we'd remember. It's large enough for dining and lounging, but the hot tub keeps it from feeling like just another view deck. We'd use it in the middle of the afternoon, after dinner and probably far too late at night. There's something particularly good about soaking above Beachwood Canyon while one of the most famous landmarks in Los Angeles sits right above you.

Keep in mind

This is a three-bedroom, two-bath house, so it's intentionally smaller than much of the Joes LA collection. There is also no swimming pool; the outdoor-water experience is the rooftop hot tub. Hillside living means driving remains the practical choice for most errands even though Beachwood Village and Hollywood are close.

Work Mode

The smaller footprint means work and home life aren't separated by an entire wing, but there are enough bedrooms and outdoor spaces to find privacy. We'd be tempted to take the laptop upstairs to the roof, although productivity may decline sharply once the hot tub enters the picture.

I love that this is a 1965 house in Beachwood Canyon right underneath the Hollywood Sign. It doesn't need to be enormous. Give me the warm materials, sunken living room, rooftop deck and that hot tub and I understand exactly why I'd stay here.

Three bedrooms and two bathrooms means this is best for a smaller group, but that's part of the charm. You're not rattling around a giant estate. The primary still gets a walk-in shower, soaking tub and good closet space, so the smaller scale doesn't mean giving up comfort.
Together we agree:
Belden View isn't the biggest Hollywood Hills fantasy. It may be one of the easiest to actually enjoy.

Getting around

Beachwood Canyon gives you a very specific piece of Los Angeles. Beachwood Village is nearby, Griffith Park and its trail network are minutes away, and Hollywood sits just below. The Hollywood Bowl and Griffith Observatory make particularly good local outings, but the canyon roads mean we'd still plan on using the car rather than treating this as a walkable urban stay.
