Somewhere during the design meeting for Lago Vista, someone apparently said, "What if absolutely nothing were standard?" And nobody stopped them. There are 33 floor-to-ceiling Rimadesio magnetic glass doors. Two floating staircases. A six-foot Moooi chandelier. An elevator with doors styled like a bank vault. Hand-knotted custom carpeting. A 600-bottle wine cellar. Even the stone surfaces were selected for their resistance to scratching and staining. That's what makes this house fun to us. Plenty of Beverly Hills homes are expensive. Lago Vista feels obsessive. Every little decision became another opportunity to customize something. Then you open the disappearing glass walls and discover that all this precision sits on more than an acre with a huge lawn, pool, spa and outdoor kitchen. It's the kind of house where you could stay a month and still occasionally notice something and think, Of course they customized that too.
